Our Mission

The ongoing mission of the Foundation for Molecular Medicine is to engage, inform, and inspire the Northwest Indiana Community to lead healthy lifestyles, take proactive measures to fight cancer, and get involved with the community to support those in need whom have been affected by cancer. Our organization will be the Northwest Indiana community’s resource for cancer-related financial support, academic support, educational seminars, and outreach programs.

Our Initiatives

Here at FFMM.org, one  of our primary objectives is to design and implement an intervention program in the Northwest Indiana Community that target specific groups which cancer research, indicating disparities between the demographic group and cancer incidences, mortalities, and early screenings.

The Vision

The long term vision of the Foundation For Molecular Medicine is as inspired as it is critical to our region – To Create and Construct a Clinical Cancer and Research Center in Northwest Indiana, which will serve as a localized site for providing cancer resources to the community as well as a site for research collaboration. The goals behind the center include, Reducing expenses for cancer patients (travel, treatment, and care), Increasing collaboration and resources between researchers, universities, and hospitals, Increaseing awareness of preventative and early detection measures for cancer, Promoting economic development spurred on by medical research.

A Community In Need

In the Northwest Indiana Community, incidence and mortality rates of certain cancer sites are higher than state averages. Due to the lack of the area’s specialized cancer centers and research facilities, many of the community’s residents are forced to seek specialized cancer treatments out of the area at hospitals and centers such as the University of Chicago Cancer Center, Rush Hospital in Chicago, Riley’s Children Hospital, and IU Health in Indianapolis. Many of these people who choose to seek treatment at these facilities pay increased travel expenses and lose precious time with each trip that he or she must make to one of these centers.

Our organization looks to provide the local community who is affected by cancer with financial resources to decrease their expenses. Our organization also looks to provide financial support college students who potentially could further research and contribute to the increased knowledge of cancer and cancer related treatments. The development of an intervention program for specific demographics will address the needs of those most in need in our community, allowing them to be targeted and informed of the preventative and support options for treating their cancer. Once the organization is more established and has secured grants, donation, and support, plans for constructing Northwest Indiana’s own Clinical Cancer and Research Center. This center will help alleviate the financial expenses of leaving the area for cancer treatment, improve the technology and resources available to cancer patients, and increase collaboration between all parties and organizations involved in the fight against cancer.
